Police shared the details of the unnamed victim’s experiences as it warned about the dangers of romance fraud on Valentine’s Day yesterday. The woman, from Surrey, was contacted online in January last year by a man purporting to be the Shotgun singer, 30, alongside members of “his team”. She was asked for funds for a special membership group which would allow her to meet him in person. The woman was persuaded to send £500 in Bitcoin and £720 in gift cards.
