Chinese government launches decentralized ID platform for 1.4 billion people, denies monitoring of citizens
Launched “real name DID†system
On the 9th, the Blockchain Service Network (BSN), led by a Chinese government-related organization, announced the launch of a blockchain-based ID (identification information) verification platform, “RealDID.â€
BSN says RealDID will give users control over the use of their digital identities and personal information. Chinese citizens will be able to anonymously register and log into various websites using their DID address.
This feature ensures the privacy of transactions and personal data, ensuring that websites only access the minimum amount of personal information necessary.
BSN said RealDID is the world’s first real-name decentralized ID system operated at the national level. It is not yet clear when RealDID will be applied to China’s approximately 1.4 billion citizens.
What is decentralized ID?
Decentralized Identity (DID) in English. Record user ID information on a blockchain or distributed ledger that has been certified as genuine by various institutions (governments, universities, etc.). Users will be able to manage their own information and prove their age to a third party without revealing personal information such as date of birth.

Are you concerned about public surveillance?
RealDID is a collaboration between BSN’s development team, Zhongtun Anxin, a technology company fully funded by China’s Ministry of Public Security (the equivalent of the police), and China Mobile Design Research Institute.
It fully integrates two infrastructures, BSN’s blockchain service network and CTID digital identity chain, to meet the management requirement of “anonymous in the front office, real name in the back officeâ€.
CTID is an app version of the identification information (name, ID number, expiration date, etc.) contained in resident ID cards. Personal information from the ID platform will be linked with China’s Ministry of Public Security network, and identity will be verified using facial recognition systems.
It is used in many fields such as transportation/travel, medical/healthcare, financial services, and digital communications.
Some people point out that CTID can be used to monitor citizens. Concerns may also arise from a privacy perspective regarding RealDID, as history on various websites is consolidated into a single ID that can be tracked by authorities.
In addition to anonymous login, BSN also describes RealDID as an “encryption service†that ensures that personal data is encrypted when transferred between platforms, and that business platforms provide business DID to individual users. It explains functions such as “Business DID Service†that supports
It is said that when a business platform exchanges a specific user’s data with other business platforms, users will be able to complete business transactions while protecting their privacy.

Government-approved NFT platform
In January, China launched China Digital Exchange Platform (CDEX), a secondary trading platform for NFTs (non-fungible tokens) and other digital assets.
The Chinese government is strictly cracking down on crypto assets (virtual currencies), and NFTs will also take the form of “BSN decentralized digital certificates (BSN-DDC),†which cannot be purchased with virtual currencies.
He Yifan, CEO of Red Date Technology, which provides technical support to BSN, said last year that BSN-DDC sees the area of certificate management, such as car license plates and school diplomas, as its largest market. Ta.
