Twitter founder’s first ever tweet sells for $2.9m

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey’s first ever tweet has sold for $2.9 million (£2.1 million). Malaysia-based businessman Sina Estavi bought the tweet – which was first published on March 21, 2006 and read “just setting up my twttr” – using the ether cryptocurrency as part of an online charity auction. Dorsey has revealed he will convent the proceeds to bitcoin before donating them to the Give Directly’s Africa Response fund.
