7000 crypto mining machines confiscated during power usage investigation

Seven thousand (7,000) crypto mining machines got discovered during the campaign to investigate illegal electricity usage in Tangshan City, China.

The campaign exercise, which was held in the Kaiping District of Tangshan City had the Tangshan police inspect 1,470 villages, 70,000 families in their homes, 3,061 business enterprises, courtyards, mines, and factories.

The investigation by the Tangshan police that intercepted the 7000 crypto mining machines began in April last year and since then identified 6,890 application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC miners) and high-voltage transformers numbering 52. According to the CCTV news on the 22nd of December, these illegal crypto miners illegally make use of electricity from nearby communities.

The ASIC miners consume power amounting to 40 times the electricity usage of a regular family, and as they operate 24 hours a day, the consumption rate is alarming.

Clampdown on 7000 crypto mining machines

The Chinese government announced in December last year the alarming increase in electric loads across the networks by the 7000 crypto mining machines. The government identified illegal crypto mining as the culprit, especially those connected to the local electricity grid.

China blockchain activities have been affected by BTC miners’ contribution of 66 percent to the global hash rate in the industry. Currently, the industry is faced with illegal crypto mining and presently battling to put an end to its activities. Regulators in the blockchain industry, in China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, sent out inspection units to checkmate the mining aspect of the industry.

China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region aims to clean-up and put the right crypto token mining companies in the location. Abkhazia, another regulatory body, has also laid down plans to identify and out to an end crypto mining farms just like it happened with the 7000 crypto mining machines.

To further ensure the success of the regulatory bodies at intercepting crypto mining activities, the Iranian authorities announced that persons who assist the campaign of identifying illegal electricity users would earn 20 percent of the proceeds recovered from the mining companies.
