Bitcoin SV [BSV]: Craig Wright takes fire at Roger Ver, Peter McCormack; one hit, one miss

The legal wars between several factions that claim to be the “real Bitcoin” are heating up, Craig Wright and Roger Ver from the Bitcoin Cash [BCH] camp now entering the rumble.

According to Coingeek, Wright’s legal team received “a notification” on May 28, from Ver’s solicitors to “handle the libel claim.” The article which bears the brazen headline of Roger Ver turning to “UK lawyers for help,” stated that Ver will respond to the claims within 28 days.

Wright’s lawyers presented Ver with “legal papers” on May 2, seeking £100,000 in monetary damages and an undertaking restraining the Bitcoin.com CEO from making any claim that Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto. The pro-BSV article stated that Ver’s opinion of Wright took a U-turn following the November 2018 hardfork,

“This is the first time that Wright had taken legal action against the Bitcoin.com executive, who had been publicly supporting Wright’s claims as Satoshi until the nChain chief scientist broke off from the BCH camp to launch Bitcoin SV (BSV).”

The Bitcoin.com CEO is not the only one on the receiving end of Wright’s legal charge. Another notable and vocal recipient of court documents from camp BSV is Dr. Peter McCormack, for calling Wright a “fraud.” On May 21, McCormack tweeted “Let’s go to court,” with the prospect of mounting a legal challenge against Wright, which he now looks to withdraw.

In a recent set of tweets, the podcaster listed his set of ‘realistic options,’ as either fight and lose, resulting in bankruptcy and reputation damage, fight and win, or to cease from the matter, which again, will lead to financial difficulties. McCormack added that this is a fight against “the bullying and intimidation of people with very deep pockets.”

His tweet read,

Interestingly, Wright’s tryst with legal chambers does not end with him issuing papers to those who oppose his claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto. Last week, the BSV lead filed a copyright for the Bitcoin whitepaper and software, to which the US copyright office hit back,

“In a case in which a work is registered under a pseudonym, the Copyright Office does not investigate whether there is a provable connection between the claimant and the pseudonymous author.”
