Tron [TRX]’s Justin Sun announces $1 million reward for Buterin – Roubini debate

The whole cryptocurrency market has been eagerly waiting for a debate between Vitalik Buterin, the Co-Founder of Ethereum and Nouriel Roubini, author of Crisis Economics and the predictor of 2008 financial crisis. This has also sparked the attention of the well-known cryptocurrency influencers including Justin Sun, the CEO and Founder of Tron Foundation.

The Founder has offered to sponsor for the whole debate and also reward the winner with $100 million. He announced on Twitter:

#TRON is happy to sponsor this debate and give 1 million USD to the winner. The result can be decided by the public vote. #TRX $TRX

Moreover, Buterin stated that if he wins the debate then the award would be donated to either Against Malaria Foundation or some other organization. He said:

“Eh, I probably would have just donated it to @AgainstMalaria or whatever”

This is not the first time Sun has shown his interest in the debate. The Founder had suggested a moderator for the debate, nominating Paul Krugman, a Nobel Laureate. Along with nominating the NYT opinion columnist, Sun also offered to cover his appearance and logistics fee.

The whole controversy started with Ruobini posting statements against the cryptocurrency space and Vitalik Buterin on his Twitter handle. The author stated that Vitalik Buterin “is a dictator” and decentralization “is a myth”. Roubini further added that the cryptocurrency market was more centralized in comparison to North Korea. He had also stated that the cryptocurrency industry is the “mother of all scams” and showed his resentment towards the top cryptocurrency in the market, Bitcoin.

This eventually resulted in a cryptocurrency enthusiast suggesting a debate between the author and Vitalik Buterin. Succeeding which, Vitalik and Roubini agreed to debate on the cryptocurrency market. However, the date, place and the moderator have not yet agreed on both the parties.
