Robinhood, the digital wallet and the movie team up at Comic-Con

On 18th July, Robinhood, the digital wallet application is back in the news with the latest tie-up with ‘Robin Hood’ the movie at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con. Lionsgate studio, the major movie house backing the movie has decided to team up with the digital wallet app to promote their movie because the application has been garnering rave reviews ever since its launch.

The partnership entails a scavenger hunt called ‘Crypto Power to the People’ where participants are given the task to search for coins which will be redeemable for $50, $500, $1000 or $5000. The obtained amount can then be invested in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin or Ethereum.

The Comic-Con publication states:

“Attendees will search for coins redeemable for $50, $500, $1,000, or $5,000, which they can use to invest in cryptocurrencies like bitcoin or ethereum over a three day period, July 19-21.”

Danielle Depalma, Lionsgate’s Executive Vice President of Worldwide Digital Marketing commented on the partnership saying:

“We’re thrilled to partner with Robinhood to utilize state-of-the-art technology as a unique way to engage Robin Hood fans. In the spirit of the legendary hero, this collaboration gives back to the community through initiatives that parallel the high-octane adventures in our Robin Hood movie.”

What makes Robinhood stand out from the rest is that cryptocurrency trading can be done by users with no overhead commission charges. The platform earns through the interest generated on customers’ cash balances and margin lending.

The company’s official blog states:

“We’re working hard to make Robinhood Crypto available to everyone, and it’s currently available in 17 states: AZ, CA, CO, FL, IN, MA, MI, MS, MO, MT, NJ, NM, PA, TX, UT, VA, and WI. We also plan to further expand our coin offerings and add support for coin transfers.”

Robinhood plans to expand operation with this move. According to sources in the digital wallet company, they are planning to spread to other states in the United States with a lot of its user base complaining about its unavailability.

The Comic-Con is an annual event for comic book aficionados where they meet with their favorite author and can dress up and pretend to be their favorite character. Sources say that the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con brought in about $1,35,000 in revenue. The comic book and entertainment franchise have been seeing a serious boom over the years with technology being integrated into it rapidly. This latest partnership with the cryptocurrency digital wallet is one of many ways that the entertainment field has been revolutionizing the industry.
