HTC set to release its blockchain phone ‘Exodus’

At a tech conference in Hong Kong on 11th July, HTC has confirmed that it will be releasing its blockchain based mobile phone later this year. The details of the phone are still kept under wraps with the Taiwanese company still ironing kinks in the product.

HTC’s Chief Decentralization Officer has stated that:

“In the new internet age people are generally more conscious about their data, this a perfect opportunity to empower the user to start owning their digital identity. The Exodus is a great place to start because the phone is the most personal device, and it is also the place where all your data originates from. I’m excited about the opportunity it brings to decentralize the internet and reshape it for the modern user.”

Additionally, the company is planning a tie-up with CryptoKitties, a blockchain game. The game is scheduled to release on a few select HTC titles. It also believes that this is a significant step in platform creation and will be a unique distribution channel for creators and users alike.

HTC has acknowledged that the mobile platform is the most impactful device in the human history. The mobile platform will also be a pivotal foundation for the distribution of digital assets and dApps to fulfill its potential. Cryptokitties has taken a path that signifies where the tech industry is heading right now. HTC is planning to capitalize on this collective marketplace so that users can reap maximum benefits.

The game is to set to release on the U12+ series of the HTC lineup so that users can have a trial run before the release of Exodus. This move is set in place to give the company that push to move into creating a decentralized app store.
