[VIDEO] Ripple donates $4 million to Ellen DeGeneres’ charity, Ellen loves it!

Ripple’s movement in the financial technology sector has been noticed by mainstream celebrities, with an appearance on the famous talk show ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’. The talk show in question is hosted by celebrity Ellen DeGeneres, who also runs the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund. The sanctuary is located in Rwanda.

Prominent actor Ashton Kutcher appeared on the show earlier today to announce that he would be making a donation to the wildlife fund. Kutcher, along with famous manager Guy Oseary, has shown interest towards venture capitalism.

They began a company known as A-Grade Investments in 2010, with billionaire Ron Burkle. Significant investments include $2.5 million in Airbnb, which is worth around $90 million now, and $500000 in Uber, which is pegged currently at around $60 million.

A-Grade’s performance rests at an average of about 3.3x, due to investments in Spotify, Warby Parker and Houzz.

Kutcher, on the show, spoke about how he invested in Ripple and the various use-cases for XRP for moving value worldwide. He mentioned that he was meeting with Chris Larsen and Brad Garlinghouse, and about how they wanted to help people who wanted to change the world for the better.

He said:

“We wanted to show you that people are thinking about you [Ellen], so, on behalf of Ripple, we’d like to give you $4 million.”

Kutcher proceeded to perform a live demonstration of Ripple’s currency exchange service by converting the $4 million into Rwandan Francs.

He said:

“Now, usually people come out with a big giant check and do the ‘big giant cheque thing’, but we can transfer it into Rwandan Francs right now right here, and all you need to do is push this button.”

Ellen then went on to say that she loves Ripple and that anyone could send money easily like that. She said that it was a great thing.

Mainstream acceptance and adoption of Ripple, especially by movie stars and the like, signifies that the world might be ready to move out of the “blockchain: good, crypto: bad” zone of thought. It is left to see whether other traditional influencers will move towards crypto.
