On May 18th, Mizuho Financial Group announced on their official website that they would sponsor Neutrino, Japan’s first blockchain coworking space. Additionally, Mizuho also plans to be a ‘long-term tenant’ of the coworking space.
Mizuho Financial Group is one of Japan’s 3 megabanks, along with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group.
Omise and Tokyo-based VC firm Global Brain established the coworking space in March this year. The first venue was set-up in Shibuya, a major business and commercial center in Tokyo, which is also the largest start-up hub in Japan. Neutrino works towards strengthening the blockchain community, fostering innovation, and promotes learning in a group.
Through this collaboration, Mizuho is looking forward to developing a business which takes advantage of the blockchain technology and shapes the blockchain ecosystem in Japan.
They plan to find new applications for blockchain technology by collaborating with other members in the field.
The website stated:
“Mizuho will the continue to incorporate the latest technologies into innovative service offerings, with the aim of providing our clients with consistently better financial services.”
In April 2018, Singapore’s first blockchain based electricity exchange ‘Electrify’ announced that it would act as a founding sponsor of Neutrino. Electrify had raised $30 million in an ICO in March.
In addition to Electrify and Mizuho, the Diamond sponsors of Neutrino include Asia Private Limited, Opto Holding Co. Ltd., Quantstamp, In, Gumi Corporation, Z Corporation Corporation, Dentsu Inc, Mizuho Financial Group, Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd.
