A venture for crowdfunding and cryptocurrency by Indiegogo

Slava Rubin, the co-founder of Indiegogo, a crowdfunding company explains the role of crowdfunding in cryptocurrency. On the 16th of May, in a world conference for blockchain technology – Consensus 2018, Slava spoke about the development and regulatory compliant to be followed in the blockchain applications.

Slava Rubin is the co-founder of Indiegogo, the world’s largest global crowdfunding platform. Before starting Indiegogo, he was a strategy consultant for clienteles such as Fed-Ex, Goldman Sachs, and Master Card. He is also solely responsible for raising funds for annual charity events for Cancer research awareness.

The company was launched in January 2008. It was formed to assist people to organize campaigns in any part of the world. According to the company’s website, it distributes millions of dollars across the platform on a weekly basis.

Earlier this year, the company was compared to Bitcoin for idealizing the similar principles such as to democratize fundraising and decentralize the decision by giving the power to the people.

In the year 2016, after the jobs acts went live, few other cryptocurrency and blockchain companies approached them to support their cause. He said that there is not much of a difference in what they are doing and the cryptocurrency companies do; basically using the crowd to raise money. He said that both follow the same basics.

He says:

“Trust is one of the major factors in this network. Making sure everything is done by the book. We have been working with the regulators for promoting the jobs acts. Most of the experiences in 2008 have been that somebody funds something and expects a product in return…. Our regulatory systems have to comply with SEC and Infra. We have established good connections with them too.”

He further added that the company hugely supports entrepreneurs and start-ups and it also provides space for the fundraisers. After 2016, they started a backend where people can invest too.

A Twitterati says:

“There is no clear connection between crowdfunding and ICO.”

Another Twitter user says:

“I have seen a growth in the company since 2008. Slava a great man with answers to upgrade the world.”

A Redditor says:

“ Holy Crap controlling a football league via fan votes. That is amazing.”
